Beaches and Beach Passes in Kennebunk, Maine


Kennebunk, Maine is a beautiful coastal town known for its charming New England architecture, rich history, and of course, its beaches. With several beaches to choose from, each with its own unique features, there's something for everyone.

If you're planning a trip to Kennebunk, Maine and want to spend a day at the beach, you may need to purchase a beach pass. The beaches are all open to the public. Passes are required for parking from June 15 to September 15. 

For Kennebunk beaches, residents can purchase a pass at the Kennebunk Town Hall, located at 1 Summer Street. The office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Both residents and non residents can purchase a pass online or at one of the kiosks located on Beach Ave. The cost of a pass varies depending on your residency status and the duration of the pass.

Gooch's Beach  is the most popular beach in the area and is know for its wide stretch of soft sand and stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean. It is located at the end of Beach Avenue. It's known for its white sand, clear water, and fantastic surf conditions. The beach is open to the public and has porta potties located at each end. 

Middle Beach is a tumbled rock beach located between Gooch’s and Mother’s Beach. It’s usually a quiet place to sit and listen to the rocks as the waves go in and out. We love this sound, will quickly relax you and may even put you to sleep.

Mother's Beach, located further down Beach Ave, is a quieter option compared to Gooch's Beach. The beach is perfect for families with small children; it has a playground, tide pools and plenty of room for little ones to play. The water is calm, making it ideal for swimming, kayaking, and paddle boarding.

Parsons Beach is a hidden gem located on a private road in Kennebunk. The beach is open to the public, but parking is limited, so it's important to arrive early. Parsons Beach is known for its natural beauty, with a long stretch of white sand and dunes. The beach is perfect for a peaceful walk or a picnic with friends.

It's important to note that parking at the beaches is limited, especially during the peak summer months. It's recommended to arrive early or take public transportation if possible. Additionally, some beaches have strict regulations regarding dogs and alcohol, so it's important to check the rules before visiting.
